Kathryn J. Wood, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.
Board Certified OB/GYN
Medical Director, Dermalase
(Always On Site)
Dr. Wood is a Pro-Life Gynecologist who believes in the sanctity of life from conception to natural death. She loves to empower women of all ages to know and understand their bodies based on natural hormone changes. Through modern methods of fertility awareness, a woman will come to understand her own health by watching for changes and patterns in her body. In the words of Dr. Pilar Vigil, a founder of the Reproductive Health Institute who is actively involved in research, direct patient care, and the teaching of other healthcare professionals, “Ovulation is a sign of health.” A woman’s body is very complex, yet we have been given a great gift in the achievement of scientific studies to understand how many glandular organs work in harmony to achieve ovulation and health. Thyroid disorders, adrenal disorders, insulin resistance and diabetes, prolactin and pituitary abnormalities, as well as Vitamin D levels all play a critical role in this process. When cyclic patterns are off, then it is likely that the problem lies with one of the above endocrine glands. Some of these abnormalities may be improved with diet and exercise, and with the addition of healthy supplements. Others need medical correction to aid the body in healing and achieving good hormonal balance. Whether a woman seeks pregnancy or seeks to avoid or delay pregnancy, or whether a woman simply wants a completely natural way to know if her body is working properly, then fertility awareness training is the answer. Because of Dr. Wood’s philosophy to correct menstrual disorders naturally, and believing that ovulation is a sign of health, she seeks to determine the root cause of the problem, rather than to just treat the symptoms.
Dr. Wood considers herself a native of Texas, having grown up in Richardson, attended Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Biochemistry, followed by medical school at UT Health Science Center in San Antonio and Internship and Residency in OB/GYN at UTMB in Galveston. She practiced Obstetrics for 9 years at which time she felt called to spend more time with her family, and focused her interest in Gynecology and Medical Aesthetics.

Dr. Wood is also passionate about women’s cardiovascular health. Women especially are still being overlooked in this area, and many fail to recognize that the number one killer of women is cardiovascular disease. She has studied the Bale Doneen Method which focuses on Prevention and which recognizes that inflammation in the body is the driving force behind cardiovascular disease development and serious events such as heart attacks and strokes.
Dr. Wood states that her career in Gynecology has enabled her to work with some amazing women who want to be empowered with the knowledge to heal and prevent disease. She loves the flexibility of integrating many aspects of a woman’s health into her approach. She views the patient as a person in need of balance, knowing that hormones, inflammation, and stress levels all play a role in optimal health as does lifestyle including diet, exercise, nutrition, and spirituality. She loves learning new ways to achieve optimal health, and appreciates the complexity of our bodies.
In her free time, she is actively involved in her church, loves music, and loves to get to Colorado for In her free time, she is actively involved in her church, loves music, and loves to get to Colorado for hiking, skiing, and relaxation. She loves spending time with her family and close friends.
